Fury can win league

Coach John Bunyan believes his current squad are more than capable of winning this years Senior Men's championship. At the half way point in the league Fury are in 2nd place to City of Edinburgh Kings but only due to the head to head result. The head to head result was a tight game in Portobello where the score ended up 60-52 in City's favour. John Bunyan said "That score reflected how close it is between the two teams, we all know how good City are but myself and my squad believe we are more than match for them despite the defeat in November."
Clark Eriksson currently have the highest points total in the league with an impressive 813 points and this was reflected in the recent Scottish Cup Victory over Glasgow Storm 122-30.
Fury star Keith Bunyan has backed up his Coach's comments; "At this point in the season we have to look at the table and believe we have a chance" He continued; "We have to keep winning games and our next two will be very tough." Fury take on St. Mirren and the Buccaneers who are placed 3rd and 4th.

Fury stars shine in South Africa

FURY players had a major role in a successful Scotland Senior Men basketball tour of South Africa last month.
The Scots flew to the other side of the world as part of their build-up for the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia, next March.
Included in Scotland's 14-strong squad of players was three-point shooting specialist Keith Bunyan and Mark Duncan, who forced his way into the team after a great display against Luxembourg earlier this year.
Also in the squad was Fury's latest signing Scott Russell, previously a point guard with St Mirren, and former Fury star Kieron Acharra, now with Dusqune in the USA.
Fury head coach and Scotland assistant John Bunyan described the trip as a great basketball, and cultural, experience.
The Scots initially flew to Cape Town and defeated two representative teams before moving on to Johannesburg for a four-nation tournament.
They defeated Angola by ten points in game one before squeezing out Mozambique by just two to set up a grand final with South Africa, who are also Commonwealth Games bound.
The match was close throughout but the hosts edged it 90-78, giving the Scots the silver medal.
After the final, a fourth match against a Johannesburg select saw Keith Bunyan slot four three-pointers in the closing two minutes to tie the game and stun the home fans. However, the Scots lost in the final seconds by two points.
Acharra was voted Most Valuable Player of the whole tournament, averaging 26 points per game.

Fury stars meet Prince Andrew

The Duke of York, Prince Andrew, met Fury's brightest young stars. The Prince visited the premises of Fury sponsor Clark Eriksson to present Investors in People award. Director Jim Toner introduced head coach John Bunyan, junior club captain Matthew Hoffman and cadet club captain Scott Cuthill to the Duke. He heard how over 500 players have been involved in Fury's programme of basketball development since Clark Eriksson started to sponsor the club seven years ago. During that time 21 club players have been capped at international level.
The Duke also discussed the growth of basketball in the UK and Scotland's upcoming participation in the Commonwealth Games.
